Do you want the fishing at Tong Park to improve?

Surely this is a rhetorical question1?

The state of the weed is making the fishing almost impossible, if not dire, the weed is predominantly canadian pondweed, which probably the most resistant to cold temperatures. The weed in the past has usually died back due to the effects of a hard winter and the eating of it by some fish either directly or while searching for aquatic insects and other food. So the last winter having been harsh has given the candian pondweed an advantage in its competition with other weed.

However the weed does not cut itself, and nor are the committee going to attempt to cut it without assistance from the ordinary members. The existing cut area about a third of the lake was cut by two people in 2 3-hour sessions, this is tiring and slow as the ends of the ropes have to be passed round tree trunks so the ideal number is about four or more to share the workload.

To do this some of you have to contact the general secretary to say they are available for about 2 or more hours on a Saturday2 at least 1 member willing to provide transport of the weed cutter and associated ropes to and from the lake.

Last Saturday3 no one bothered to phone and commit themselves to doing the job. If you want the fishing to improve you know what you have to do. Phone on 01274214441 or 077797471394.
